📋 Abstract

Abstract: A Black cotton soil has low bearing capacity and high compressibility and more settlement. Black cotton soils are more reactive to seasonal moisture content so need to improve the soil properties and improving the load carrying capacity by providing geo textile discs at various depths and various diameter of stone column. Stone column diameter used are 2.5cm and 5 cm and reinforcement placed at depths of 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0 of the length respectively. For every settlement of 30mm ultimate load is determined.

📋 Abstract

Abstract: Expansive soils are found in many parts of the world and in India they extend to twenty percentage of the area. Expansive soils experience significant volume changes associated with changes in water content. Any type of construction work on Expansive soils with high swelling and shrinkage behaviour will cause damage to the structures. The changes in volume of the soil are due to the minerals present in Expansive soils. This study aims to reduce the swelling behaviour of the soil and increase the strength of the soil with stabilisation technique using different admixtures and chemicals. In the present study palm oil fuel ash and phosphogypsum were used to improve the soil characteristics. The soil for the present study was collected from Thoorpulanka village, Allavaram mandal, East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, India. The changes in the soil properties due to addition of Palm Oil Fuel Ash and Phosphogypsum in different percentage combinations were studied through laboratory investigations.

Abstract: We proposed to study the existence of periodic orbits of the first kind in the CR4BP when the second primary is an Oblate spheroid, the third primary is a triaxial rigid body and the fourth primary is of comparatively smaller mass placed at triangular libration point. By applying the model of Hassan [1,2] and Payal [3], we examine the existence of periodic orbits with the technique of Choudhary [4] and conditions of Duboshin [5] with different parametric values and found satisfied.

📋 Abstract

Abstract: In this wide world, the human kind is abundantly depends upon ground water for living and meeting their day to day needs. Ground water is considered as a vital source in the universe, which contributes inherently in total annual supply. But, there comes the problem of over – exploitation too. This may be provoked due to the carelessness of the people, faulty storage methods etc. Therefore, the storage of water is treated mandatory. One of the ways is about assessing the water pot zones or potential zones for ground water recharge. These zones are utilised for protection and management of ground water systems. The mission of the paper is to identify such zones using Geographic Information System techniques at the particular study area “Tiruttani”. The usage of thematic layers for the study area namely soil texture, soil infiltration, geology, geomorphology, land use land cover, rainfall, drainage
and slope (Mohanavelu Senthilkumar et al., 2019) and the method of Weighted Overlay Analysis in Arc GIS software is examined in detail. The outcome is retrieved in three categories viz. Low, medium and high suitability areas and thence generated the percolation spot location for check dam construction.

📋 Abstract

Abstract: The cyclic process of water cycle without any interruptions is the promising factor that ensures the existence of living creatures; right from micro organisms to all the other living beings. But nowadays, that water cycle is disturbed due to the prevailing conditions of pollution in environment and thereby the scarcity arises. In the water cycle, rain water and ground water are considered important. Rainwater can be later collected as ground water and taken for our usage. But now, rainfall is highly insufficient thereby ground water level is decreasing. But it can be collected artificially by the construction of check dam at the water holing areas. Poondi is our study area where we found some shortage of water and now coming with a solution. The software used for this are QGIS and Arc GIS. In this paper, the usage of thematic layers of soil texture, soil infiltration, geology, geomorphology, land use land cover, rainfall, drainage and slope (Mohanavelu Senthilkumar et al., 2019) is done. After that, the percolation spots of Poondi is plotted and analysed using Weighted Overlay Analysis technique in Arc GIS and thus the appropriate area of construction of check dam is determined.

Abstract: The foundation is indeed the most essential part of any built up structure, be it a superstructure or a substructure. The stability of soil is the requirement to stabilize the upper surface. Clay being the most unwanted subgrade material cannot always be avoided completely because it is not always economically feasible to replace the part of foundation with a more stable granular soil. Hence, the role of stabilization comes into play. This study aims to investigate the potential utilization of stone slurry waste and stabilization of cohesive soil. The stone slurry waste is usually disposed indiscriminately in open area and sewage network causing health and environmental problems. Every year death of humans and animals are reported due to drowning in open slurry waste site. This water carries large amounts of stone powder, which leads to complex nature of environmental problem so these waste material needs to be utilized meaningfully in economic way. The stone slurry waste taken from the stone cutting plant was dried, grind to fine particle and then mixed with specific amount of clayey soil and Lime. The stone cutting industry consume large amounts of fresh water and produces even larger amount of viscous liquid waste known as stone slurry waste. Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3) is the main constituent of slurry waste in addition to other minerals from parent rock. Stone slurry waste and Lime were mixed in different percentage with parent soil and various geotechnical characteristics were investigated through standard proctor test (SPT) and unconfined compression test (UCS)

📋 Abstract

Abstract: Monopiles have been widely used as a foundation for offshore as well as onshore structures. These foundation are generally subjected to environmental loads such as wind load. To improve the lateral resistance of monopiles, a spin fin pile has been proposed. A spin fin pile is a newly developed type of pile foundation that is capable of supporting large lateral loads. Finned piles consist of two or more fins welded at top or bottom of a regular pile around its circumferential area. In this study, a nonlinear 3D analysis with an elastic plastic soil model (MohrCoulomb), an elastic pile material (steel)and interface elements are used to model the pile–soil interaction using MIDAS GTS-NX finite element software. Analyses were performed in sand with different relative densities, namely 40% and 55%. Influence of sand on single and group of spin fin pile, relative density and slenderness ratio (L/D) on
lateral response of fin piles is highilighted. Analysis shows that the existence of fin pile provides higher lateral resistance. Further, it was also observed that relative density of sand influences the lateral load carrying capacity of spin fin piles.
